About us

IOM Cymru  was launched in 2011 and is led by an all Wales strategic partnership between HMPPS in Wales (including the National Probation Service and Public Sector Prisons), the National Police Chiefs’ Council, and Welsh Government, delivered in partnership with key stakeholders. It encompasses four Police Force areas (Dyfed Powys, Gwent, North Wales and South Wales), working with the four Police and Crime Commissioners, twenty-two Community Safety Partnerships, seven Local Health Boards, the Wales Community Rehabilitation Company, HMP Parc and a wide range of public, private and third sector agencies.

IOM Cymru seeks to deliver effective approaches to the management of key priority groups and those who represent the highest levels of risk, threat and harm to the communities of Wales, and is aligned with the shared priorities of partners as outlined in the ‘Framework to support positive change for those at risk of offending in Wales 2018-2023’.

  • Welsh Context

Welsh legislation is informing the future direction of IOM in Wales, by challenging us all to think about the well-being of future generations. This must include the management of offenders, as crime and justice both directly and indirectly impact on the well-being of individuals living across Wales, whether as a victim, perpetrator, family member or a member of the wider community, as well as impacting on a wide range of services.
